Kraut Kalimba – Hohner is a German brand well known for harmonicas, but they have had some wild ideas. The Guitaret is one of them. A cross between a guitar and a Kalimba, this odd hoover of an instruments sounds utterly beautiful. I could not have that so I ran it through a guitar synthesizer for nice wild bass tones.

Maestro – A truly wonderful synth creation from legend Vladimir Kuzmin. This synth sounds broken from the start because it has a lovely washy BBD chorus and can overdrive internally. Perfect for your Soviet Wave tracks. Run through a melange of vintage German Broadcast FX for extra range.

Orchestral Strings – A treasured patch from my OP-1. You can hear 32 classical musicians rehearsing part of an orchestra piece I wrote. This was a magic moment to me, to hear my music from pen (or mouse) to a concert stage.

Crumar Colors (Cosmic Italy) – I took a trip to the Museo del Synth Marchegiano and fell in love with Italian synth. When I got home I got a bunch, but they were all broken. The Crumar DS-2 charmingly though, as it played strange new tunings, unrelated to my input. Its weird, but fun.

Michelsonne (French Toy Piano) – The Michelsonne toy pianos are the best in the world. When the factory burned down in the 70s it was a great loss, as not many of these instruments survive the Kinderzimmer they are put in. Here you can play a 37 touché piano, one of their prime models.

CRB 2000 (Computerband) – The CRB 2000 Computer Band is the best and most modern auto-accompany instrument ever created. It has the most variance and allows to turn off many things that make other Polka only.. I got mine as part of a huge broken organ filling up my living room. But with some tricks I salvaged some charming melodic patches for you.

Mad Rhodes – I have had my Rhodes for 20 years and I feel like in any relationship its good to try out new things together, to spice things up. Here it is processed to hell and back, so don’t expect to play this softly.

SH2 (Classic Mono Synth) – The Roland SH2 is classic synth and true mainstay of my work for the past twenty years. It just sings beautifully and drones threateningly. And compared to many other synths, it is 100% reliable.

Endless Piano – What if a note never ended? With my digital take on tape, the app Gauss I made with Bram Bos, I overdubbed piano notes until they had no end or beginning. Use this whenever you want to feel endless.

Giallo Strings – My first Italian Keyboard was German. Wersi re-branded the famed Logan String Orchestra you hear in many horror soundtracks and sold under their name. I made some patches you can use with confidence in any 70s style shock flick you have to score.

HP Waves (Test Equipment Waves) – The HP Wave Analyzer family is a mainstay in science and the only piece of test equipment I have four of. Hear them break apart a Juno60 and recreate it into something very „unsynthesizerish“.

Trance Waves – The Ensoniq Fizmo, a fantastic and rare wavetable synthesizer, came out when I started out with music. As quickly as it appeared in shops it dissappeared. Its violet hue haunted me for years, until I found one again. Its is so New Age and odd, a true masterpiece.

Suiko (Poetry Trainier) – Who would have thought that 10th century Chinese and Japanese poetry needed their own digital instrument? The Suiko St-50 is a rehearsal Synth/Rompler for the recitation of classical lyric. But it sounds utterly modern and has its own wonderful scale. A hidden classic.

Juno60 (Classic Synth) – I played my Juno60 once live at a huge open air, which could have been a way to a bigger audience for my band at the time. But it failed me and I bombed the show. In the studio, it never failed me. There is just magic in this machine that brings everything together.
