Boris Potschubay, a.k.a Jogging House, is a German musician based in Frankfurt am Main. Besides his own music, Potschubay curates his own label, Seil Records, which forms a home for Hainbach and KMRU, among others. Jogging House debuted in 2011 and brought us more than a dozen releases in the meantime.

Jogging House, who contributed to impOSCar3‘s sound design, kindly agreed to answer a few questions.

Do you have any tips for getting great-sounding patches?

First thing is to always start with an INIT patch, don’t have anything activated that might steer you in a certain direction. Then just think of something that you haven’t tried before. Usually it is a good idea to stare at the mod destinations for a bit and think of an interesting way something could be modulated. When you find nice setting, try to carve out the most character of what makes this particular patch unique.

Which of your impOSCar3 patches do you consider your personal favourite?

I’m gonna go with ‚Fading Paint‘. It is just my kind of patch. Noisy and fragile, deep and sonically rich. It is the type of sound I love to start composing with, as it nicely fills a blank track without being too overpowering.

Is there anything, in particular, you liked about impOSCar3?

I’m always a sucker for Dual Filters and this is no exception here. Combined with the drive, each filter type has its own vibe and becomes a great tool to shape sounds with.

What’s your favourite synthesiser, and what makes it uniquely suited to your work?

I don’t have a favorite but will pick the Korg MS20 here. It’s wonderfully immediate and sounds great in basically any setting. It is simple enough to work fast with it but deep enough to make experimentation fun. A true classic.
